Luckily there is a way to keep your water features and prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs in them. Bacterial insecticides are highly effective against mosquitoes and mosquito larvae without harming other animals and plants. Bacterial insecticides can come in granules or dunks which are tossed into the water and dissolve to release the mosquito-killing bacteria.
Check Your Screens and Doors>
Your home is supposed to be the one place you can be safe from pests, but if your screens aren’t in good repair you good be visited by unexpected house-guests. Mosquitoes are tiny and can fit through the tiniest rip, tear, or crack in your screens or doors. Make sure all of your screens are secure and in good condition. Check your doors for any cracks and seal them with caulk or weather-stripping.

According to the CDC, the most effective mosquito repellents on the market are ones containing the chemical DEET. DEET has been proven to be very effective in preventing mosquito bites but not everyone can benefit from it. A small population of people are allergic to DEET and therefore need to use alternative forms of mosquito repellant. Essential oils and herbs such as citronella, basil, lemongrass, lavender, tea tree, and thyme can be used to make your own home-made mosquito repellants.
